– a well-known adage in the Law Enforcement Community
Unfortunately, there are far too many “LE Firearms Instructor” Courses out there where a student can simply attend, get their certificate, and then return to their agency an, “Instructor” while not properly trained themselves and woefully unprepared to train others.
Situations such as this can not only be detrimental to our Law Enforcement Professionals in the field who need proper training to keep them safe on the job, but to the citizenry these professionals are charged with protecting.
After seeing the results of these flawed programs first-hand, MDFI has now created its own Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor program that will hold those who attend to the highest standards possible and only graduate those dedicated professionals who work to earn their Instructor title versus just simply attending.
The farthest from a “Show up and get a certificate” class possible, MDFI LE Instructor Candidates will be evaluated throughout the course on responsible firearms handling, their ability to demonstrate techniques, evaluate others, teach points of instruction, and pass shooting qualifications in order to graduate and will leave with either an earned Instructor Certification or merely a certificate of attendance.
Those who graduate these programs will receive an MDFI instructor curriculum to assist in passing on the learned information to their fellow law enforcement officers.
Our Instructor Series begins by building a solid foundation of teaching, evaluation, marksmanship, and firearms knowledge with our LE Firearms Instructor Marksmanship + Manipulation Course.
This course trains future Instructors to have the skills to accurately shoot and properly/efficiently manipulate all common LE defensive firearms and give them the skills and knowledge to pass that information on to their students and make them better with their defensive tools.
This course has been registered with MCOLES for use of PA 302 Law Enforcement Distribution funds and earns training credit within MITN.
After completing the Marksmanship + Manipulation Instructor Course, students may advance to our LE Firearms Instructor Situation + Environment Course.
This course trains future Instructors to deal with all sorts of environmental issues that a member of Law Enforcement might encounter (Low Light, Cover, Moving Around Others with Firearms, etc) and give them the skills and knowledge to teach their students that important information.
This course has been registered with MCOLES for use of PA 302 Law Enforcement Distribution funds and earns training credit within MITN.
