When Things Go Bad

Class Flow: INTENSE (students can expect full day of movement, physicality, and shooting from uncommon positions).

Life happens. Bad things happen. For this reason we need to train for when things aren’t all rainbows and kittens. When Things Go Bad is built around the fact that in a defensive situation, we may lose the ability to employ the perfect shooting techniques or have the support of both hands by injury or need. This class is designed to prepare the student to keep their handgun up and running regardless of the situation.

This class is for the intermediate to experienced shooter who understands and applies the four rules of responsible firearms handling as a way of life. Students should be absolutely competent in manipulating a handgun with both hands available. This class is stressful and will test those who attend.

Law Enforcement: This course is MCOLES certified through MDFI and counts toward training credit.

Excellent course in teaching real world scenarios. Nothing in life is ever easy or predictable. Multiple examples and setups to challenge how to handle yourself when things break bad. Careful and thoughtful feedback on techniques and gear. Plenty of new ideas to takeaway and practice on your home range. Highly recommend.

I can't recommend this class enough. The things I learned here are things I've never thought about before, let along practiced through. Life isn't nice and convenient and learning techniques to work through difficult problems are a must. This class taught more new, eye-opening, skills than any other class. Highly recommend to anyone who's serious about training.

Awesome class. Anyone who carries a gun regularly owes it to themselves and others around them to know these techniques. After taking most of MDFI's curriculum, and classes with other outfits, I'd say I took more away from this one than any others. Trek and cadre were great as always with personal instruction where needed and making sure we had fun and worked hard from start to finish. Looking forward to taking this one again someday!

Incredibly helpful class. If we ever find ourselves in a self defense situation, obviously things are already going bad. I came away with a much better understanding of how to solve problems with the conditions aren't ideal. As always with MDFI the day was beyond safe. Highly recommend for anyone looking to expand their skills/confidence.

This is the most important MDFI class on the list. Not only is it useful it is also the most fun class I have taken with MDFI. Do not be afraid of this class, the ego free zone is real and this class WILL make you a better shooter and more dangerous to people who want to hurt you and your family.

If you are 100% confident and competent with manipulating a firearm around others do not sleep on this class! WTGB Is a class that everyone should take if they are going to carry a firearm everyday for self defense. You will learn to never quit and stay in the fight. This class is a blast, you wont regret taking it.

As a Law Enforcement Officer, training from up close and when you are not in an ideal shooting position is common that was not addressed at our department. When Things Go Bad went well above exceeding my expectations. It was the first class I took through MDFI and I have every intention of taking many more and taking the skills learned back to my department. Trek and the Cadre are knowledgeable and skilled beyond most other classes I've taken and were able to answer many questions and give scenarios when a LEO would use different elements taught. I felt very comfortable and safe throughout the entire class thanks to them and I express my appreciation towards them. Take this class and you will be happy you did. Very eye opening and will be taking the class again.

When Things Go Bad is a great complement to Handgun Cover + Movement. Many of the topics are related, and while C + M is more physically taxing, WTGB introduces many unique situations such as contact shooting, retention shooting, and how to shoot and manipulate the gun with an injury. As always, the cadre provides an exceptional and controlled atmosphere to train in concepts that we normally cannot do on the range. Thanks again guys!

This course is highly recommended for anyone interested to learn how to fight with a handgun from extremely close distances and from the ground. Skills included safe operation of the gun based on unconventional but realistic possible circumstances. The instruction was outstanding. Thank you.
