On Saturday afternoon (June 12, 2021) we will have our annual Alumni BBQ and Swag Swap. Those who wish to stay for the night can join our Whiskey In The Woods event around the campfire.
Essentially, MDFI HQ (the Northern Woods Training Facility) will be open for all Alumni and family for the weekend. Feel free to arrive after 5:00pm Friday and stay until Sunday. Saturday is the only day with an agenda of events. Friday and Sunday is just hanging out in the woods with good folks.

GROWN UP TIME
Bring a sweatshirt, a stogie if you wish and and your favorite drink to enjoy as we relax and tell stories around the fire. This is grown up time. Nuff’ said. As above, you drink – you don’t carry a firearm.
Friday and Saturday Nights
You are more than welcome to camp on the 10 acre property Friday and Saturday night at no charge. This is an Alumni event and all camping is free. There is no electric / water, but we do have a couple port-a-johns. Please plan accordingly and make sure that you can survive without running a generator for a night so not to disturb other folks. (Power for cell phones, etc is available at the facility but there are limited outlets…but hey, you’re in the woods so get out of the Matrix for a day or two!) There is a campfire ring for all to use.
If you plan to arrive Friday night, you must arrive between 5pm – 10pm. The gates will open again at 9am Saturday morning.
No worries! There are lots of cool little motels around the area in Baldwin, MI. The nearest “Hotel” is Big Rapids which is about a 30 minute drive. Check out the lodging page on the Northern Woods website.
We cannot have any animals aside from canaries or goldfish due to past experiences. We certainly understand this may be a selling / not selling point for some, and for that we can not budge but do so with our apologies.
We ask that Alumni only bring their immediate families as guests. Please know that you will be responsible for your guest’s that attend.
All attendees will be required to fill out a NWTF Waiver and have it signed in the presence of a notary (usually your bank will do that free of charge). We know it’s a bit of a pain, but once you fill out a waiver… it’s good for life. You’ll receive a NWTF card and your waiver is then on file and you will never need to sign one for the facility again. Minors under the age of 18 will need to have their parent/legal guardian sign for them in presence of a notary (see checkbox on waiver for minor). Their parent / legal guardian must also be in attendance for the event.
Please mail in waivers before hand to streamline our checkin process:
Mail to: MDFI
2800 S Kings Hwy
Luther, MI 49656
Note: If you have already submitted a notarized waiver in the past, you must bring your bright green NWTF Student Card and you’re good to go.

For those that have questions after reading all of this, all good! Shoot us an email at info@trainMDFI.com and we will get you squared away!
