We know a lot of you have been following along closely with what we’re referring to as SIGgate 2025. If you are unaware, there are copious documented, verifiable, incidents of Sig P320 variants experiencing uncommanded discharges. Meaning, gun going bang without a trigger being actuated.

What many of you may not know, is that MDFI quietly started implementing a new policy in January of this year (announced at all classes this year). As you know, we run all of our classes as a “Hot Range”, meaning, you have the ability to holster loaded handguns and walk around as such. Since we are a defensive minded school (kind of in the name…) we always stress the importance of being comfortable with a loaded gun on your body.

However, we made the decision late last year that all Sig Sauer P320 variants will not be allowed to be loaded off the line.

The thought process, that we considered deeply, was that if the gun is loaded and in your hands, the muzzle should always be pointed in the safest direction available regardless. Failure to do so, as you know, would result in removal from class. If the gun was loaded and the shooter was on the line, awaiting instruction or a command to fire, the only person at risk would be the shooter. (Make good life choices). However, if the shooter had a loaded gun in a holster, and was able to walk off the line and sit down during break, the muzzle could potentially be pointed at someone else. This we could not allow.

This was our middle ground. Between many local and state LEO organizations, as well as the military, adopting the P320 as its issued handgun, we were very aware that many of our students adopted the “If its good enough for them, its good enough for me” mindset, and you would have been right to do so, seemingly. And we know that guns are expensive, and some of our students may only own one gun.

However, after recent events, a report from the FBI, and the death of a servicemember, we will no longer be allowing Sig P320’s of ANY variants in any open enrollment MDFI live fire classes.

If you are currently signed up for a class and were planning to use your P320, and have no other gun to use, please email us at info @ trainMDFI.com and we will give you a host of guns to choose from to borrow to take the class with. (9mm only, Im just saying…)

Please note, this decision was not made lightly. The safety of our students has always been at the top of list of priorities of MDFI, and this is just another step to take to ensure that each and everyone of you gets home safe at the end of the day. Feel free to email us if you have any questions.

Thanks for your time.
